THE BAND
We are Discontinuity, a post hardcore/metal band based in Toronto, Canada. Our desire with our music is to take the feelings of anguish and loss felt by many amidst times of crisis, and channel them into a sense of hope and strength.
Formed in late 2019, we self-produced and released a debut EP in January 2020, and played one show before the pandemic began. These troubling times resulted in “Projections”, our second EP, released July 2020 - written, recorded, and produced in isolation from each other.
Throughout 2021 and 2022, we began to work on new material together, with every band member contributing to songwriting. This led to a string of singles (Blind, RICH OFF THE SICK, and the internet is ruining my life) culminating in our first full-length LP: The Only Way Out Is Through.
Roger and Phil are cousins who formed the original songwriting duo of the band. They then brought in friend Jack Vanden Broek on guitar and vocals. Our line up was then completed when Jack brought in Daniel Platts (Calgary-born former jam partner) on bass, and prog scene veteran drummer Nishil Gosalia as our final addition.
